Heritage is at the heart of Galician life. The passage of our ancestors property over the generations represents more than a mere succession of title deeds.

At Quinta de Couselo we believe that we have also inherited the love of labouring our land, of transforming fruits into liquid the love of work well done. When our wine leaves our domain,we want to convey that inside each bottle, even though we now use, modern tools and techniques, there is a world of ages-old.

Philosophy of the cellar

The main objective of Quinta Couselo throughout its historyhas been and always will be to obtain the highest quality in the elaboration  of its wines, brandies and liqueurs.

This small and friendly cellar with a long family tradition, has a special love for the wine and its surrounding world of wine.

Hence it is not fortuitous that our new buildings are made of stone and timber.

Our History

Q uinta Couselo was initially acquired in 1163 by Cistercian monks belonging to the monastery of Sta. Mª de Oia.The monastery, built in 1132 under the reing of king Alfonso VII, was an important defence against the frequent maritime invasions of the time.

In the twelfth century, vineyards were significantly developez in the area. The monks interest to extend their properties in the O Rosalvalley was based on on their discovery of the great potencial for wine production on those lands.

In 1835, under the Mendizabal alienation laws, the property was privatised and has belonged to the Vicente family since 1898.
